Sacrifice – Good or Bad?

Ps. 107: 8,9,22 “Oh, that men would praise the Lord for His goodness, and for His wonderful works to the children of men! For He satisfies the longing soul, and fills the hungry soul with goodness. And let them sacrifice the sacrifice of thanksgiving, and declare His works with rejoicing.”

When you think of the word “sacrifice,” what comes to mind? Most of us think of having to give up something we love.

God does ask us to sacrifice various things in our lives, and many times, it is with great difficulty that we do so. But, have you ever thought about the sacrifice of thanksgiving? One sacrifice that pleases God is our thanks to Him for who He is and what He has done in our lives.

Take a moment to reflect on all of the blessings that God has given. No matter the trials you face, if you look deep, you will see the Lord’s goodness and His wonderful works in your life. Offer Him the sacrifice of praise and thanks. It will be a sweet aroma to Him.

Then, we are to declare His works with rejoicing. Here at Siloam Missionary Homes, we are a faith based ministry – we rely on God’s provision for the needs through the gifts of His children. God is faithful to meet the needs and He blesses each day. Many times, the funds come in the very day they are due!

Would you consider joining as a Coffee Club member (a monthly partner) to help us give missionaries a place to call home? Your tax deductible gift will cause us to “declare His works with rejoicing.”

Our Challenge for 2010

What can you buy for $10? Not much, these days. Dinner for a family of 4 at a  fast food restaurant costs more, dinner and a move costs way more

We are looking for people who would be willing to give $10 per month this year, to help us provide a home for missionary families.  Do you think $10 can make a difference? Yes it can!

Would you pray about partnering with us this year? You will be blessed. I look forward to hearing from you.

“Joy To The World”

Recently I have been thinking about the word “joy.” What do you think of when you see that word? Does it mean “happiness” to you? or “satisfaction?”

When I think of happiness, I realize that comes from my circumstances, what is going on around me. Is it good, or is it bad? Because of that, my “happiness” can come and go easily depending on whether things are going the way I want them to.

Satisfaction comes from doing a job well, or seeing something that I finished. This is good, too, but it is not always a feeling that lasts longer than the moment.

Joy, however, is something that is based entirely on Someone else in my life. No, not my husband, or my children or grandchildren – although they are my very favorite people! Joy is based on my relationship on Jesus and what He has done for me. There is a deep joy in walking with Him every day. The wonderful thing is that “happiness” and “satisfaction” come and go, but JOY is a constant, because Jesus is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. And He is the same regardless of the circumstances that I find myself  in.

As you walk through this Christmas season, let yourself sing the song “Joy to the world…”, realizing that Jesus has given us all that we need to feel joyful in our hearts. And share that JOY with others as you wish them a Merry Christmas!

Does What I Do Make A Difference?

Do you ever ask yourself that question. Sometimes I do! But, I have learned over the years that as I walk with the Lord and submit to His leading in my life, I can.

One of the most rewarding parts of my involvement with Siloam Missionary Homes is seeing the look of relief and gratitude as a new missionary family arrives and is shown into their house. As a missionary kid myself, I know from experience the unsettling feeling of being shuffled from place to place. What we do here at Siloam makes a difference to each person who comes to stay here.

So, do you want to make a difference in a life? Get involved in Siloam Missionary Homes. E-mail us at siloamh@bellsouth.net and find out how you can make a difference today!
