From Vision to Valley to Victory

September 3rd, 2010

Over the past year on our radio program “A Place Missionaries Call Home” we have been following three families that felt Godhad called them to be missionaries. Monthly we would interview them on where there were and where they were going. This became know as “the Journey.”  Each family had a different occupation. Joe Readling, we called him Joe the Plumber because he used to be a plumber. He and wife, Anna, are heading to South Africa. Andy Bowersox the real estate man is watching God work to take a burden and create a ministry. He and his wife Elizabeth and children live in North Carolina. Scott Hunter, a chemist (we call him Scott the mad scientist) and his wife, Cindy and their children, are looking at calling Spain home.

Each couple has a vision, each one has had their share of valleys,  and each one has seen victories. This week join Joyce and I  on A Place Missionaries Call Home. You can listen  Saturday at 3:30 pm on WTRU am830 or  Monday 8:00 am and Thursday 8:00 pm  on WBYJ 97.9 fm Burlington, or 161 family net radio at 10:30 am Sunday.

This week we visit with these families and listen as they share their year long journey. Two of them have had  additions to their families. One was able to sell their home while another waits. This is a program you won’t want to miss. Also follow them on this website, and you can listen to the show by clicking on the segments below.

MK’s (missionary kids) live a different life than most kids raised in the US. A youth group from Connecticut had some questions for four of the MK’s living at Siloam and we taped the interview. You will enjoy hearing from these four kids who had lived in other places while their parents serve as missionaries.

Going Single? Could that be God’s will?

June 18th, 2010

Meet Eric and Casandra Pardine, missionaries to Peru. God burdened their hearts, as single adults, to go to Peru to teach in a Christian school. While there, the Lord showed them that He had a plan for their lives – together. Listen to their story and hear about the miracles that God gave them and how He has directed them to serve Him.

Reaching the “forgotten”

June 16th, 2010

Today, as missionaries fly into the “back country” overcoming obstacles, landing on unimproved runways, lakes or rivers, they have the unique opportunity to minister to people who often are referred to as “the forgotten.” But landing on short, undeveloped landing areas, can be a challenging undertaking. This week on a place missionaries call home, Dr. Davis Goodman, founder of Harvesters International Mission will tell you about what it takes to make a missionary bush pilot.

What If or Even If?

June 4th, 2010

Often we live by the “what if’s” – what if something terrible happens? What if I don’t get that job? What if the Lord doesn’t provide? Instead, we should live by an “even if” kind of faith. The three Hebrew boys in Babylon were threatened with the fiery furnace if they didn’t bow down to the gold image. They refused, stating that the God they serve could deliver them, but “even if” he did not, they would still not bow down. Jackie & Santiago Olortegui are living by an “even if” faith. Join us as we listen to their story
